Up in the air

It has been quiet on the Blog front since I last posted. There has been a tsunami of change in my life and it has meant I needed to take a break (or as some call it these days, a digital detox) and gain some peace and perspective. The good news is however that the sea is now calm and I can now re-engage with a clearer focus on what I want to achieve from both the blog and my other activities.
August 2018 was spent in the UK and it was a whirl of activity, action and outcomes. I will write more and explore and share the many wonderful experiences I had - digging at a Roman Villa, exploring the villages both coastal and inland of Sussex, the people I met who have now become part of my circle, the peaceful time in my ancestral home of Buckfastleigh and of course the thrills of London.
Stay tuned for new blogs coming soon - LOL, maybe a tsunami of them to catch up on from my last stories of Cambodia (Beyond Food) and fashion (Beyond Fashion) pages.
Up in the air! Not with hesitation but concrete plans!
In January 2019 I head to the UK once more but this time, the focus is on a Viking related adventure - Uphellya at Lerwick on the Shetland Islands. A week long celebration of Viking culture culminating in the Fire Festival that sees the whole village participate in the creation and burning of a replica Long Ship on the beach.

From the UK I head to Switzerland to explore Zurich, Zermatt, St Moritz and Geneva in February then return back to my English hometown of Esher.

Very excited to be also staying in Dubai. I have flown through so many times but have never stopped to explore the city before so this time its on! Did you know that the QE2 is docked at the Dubai marina and you can stay on board? Not this time for me, but a definite for my next passage through the UAE.

Mid year it will be Greece. With my archaeological interests I am excited to explore the city of Athens and the many historic sites. A room (or rather a hotel with bar!) with a view of the Acropolis is booked to round out the days of walking and exploring. Of course, no trip to Greece would be complete without visiting the islands of Mykonos and Santorini. I am already entranced by the pictures of azure blue seas and white buildings that seem to flood the Instagram pages for the area.
Back to Beyond...and am excited to be once again sharing my plans and adventures!
