Saturday morning and it is market day in Aix en Provence. After a relatively leisurely breakfast, I headed out towards the Place Richelme and the Town Hall for the flower market, but I discovered so much more. Not only were there flowers, but linens, clothing, fresh produce and seafood so fresh I saw a crab still wriggling in its mesh carry bag.
Crowds thronged the streets as the weather was warm and enticing. Not only tourists but locals with their shopping carts were crowding down the narrow streets. I had only a bunch of flowers on my shopping list but it was so easy to be distracted by all the lovely produce and gaze longingly at what one could take home if one was only a local!
Back at the Hotel Cardinal, the sound of classical music is wafting in through my kitchen window. I open the window to see a number of dancers in front of the Museum Garnet dancing. Tres bon of course, what else does one do on a Saturday afternoon but dance with delight?
