Blonde on the highway

It was the first warm, sunny day that we had seen for months. Winter had been long, dark and cold (by Australian standards!) but by the early afternoon it had reached a warm 26 degrees. The sky was clear and blue and the lure of the highway was there....
Few pleasures equal the fun of putting the hood of the convertible down and with music playing, driving down the highway. I love being a blonde in a convertible! particularly a red one! The sheer fun of it always makes me smile, so today, off down the highway to the coast I went. Point Lonsdale sits on the far end of the Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria. It is a little, quiet village. In the main, tourists at this time of year have abandoned it. There is no where to buy alcohol and sadly, the local fish and chip shop has closed but walking the bluestone promenade ocean frontage is a real delight.
It was time for ice cream...strawberry a classic choice but for a try, a scoop of caramel and choc chip. Taking the pic in a rush as it was warm enough to make it melt quickly and I wanted to ensure I had the best of it.
Families were playing on the sand, some souls venturing out into the surf despite the ocean still being winter cold. Lovers held hands, kids chased dogs and threw sticks out in to the water for fetch....I sat alone on the bench watching it all. Peaceful, calm.
Driving back to Geelong, I put my foot down. The car sprinted into life and with the wind in my hair, I was a happy blonde travelling the highway.
